Type Locality and Naming
In the Kazakhtau and Kyzylkum mountains. R.K. Makarova, A.A. Abdusamatov, 1981. Stratotype in the Kazakhtau Mountains (Kyzylkum).
Synonym: Kazakhtauskaya Formation, Казахстанская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Quartz-feldspar sandstones, white, light-gray, calcareous with ferruginous streaks (3. Kyzylkum) and layers of clays and limestones, greenish-gray clays. Thickness up to 19m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies conformably on the Bukhara Fm or with erosion on various horizons of the Upper Cretaceous, or on the Paleozoic.
Upper contact
Overlain conformably by the Nurin Fm and Sugralin Fm.
Regional extent
E, Central and W Kyzylkum, Bukhara Depression, Zirabulak-Ziaetdin and Nurata districts. To the north-east, the suite is facially replaced by the Kainarbulak Fm, and to the south-east by the Givar Fm.

Fossils
Contains marine bivalve mollusks - Cyrena (Corbicula) forbesi Desh.; gastropods - Turbonila kojliensis Mak. et Abdus., Metacerithium Hauniensis (Koen.), Rhinoclavis (Alico) polistriatus Zubk., foraminifers - Annectina paleocenica Sul., Paragaudryina gigantica (Subb.).
